Hiring Big-Company Talent for Your Startup? Read This First

"We need to hire someone from a big company."

I hear this from founders all the time. But in my experience, bringing enterprise talent into an early-stage startup is an entirely different ballgame.

In large companies, success comes from managing budgets, optimizing fixed processes, and leading specialized teams.

In a startup, there are no teams. No processes. No safety nets.

It requires extreme adaptability and the willingness to wear five different hats every single day.

In a big company, you can delegate the execution. In a startup, if you don't do the work, the work doesn't get done.

I've seen talented leaders make the leap, realize they miss the structure and resources of an established organization, and return to corporate life.

And that is 100% okay.

Before making the jump, ask yourself one question:

Are you looking to manage a system, or are you ready to build one from scratch?
